When becoming a modern-day yogi, you got to have the right equipment to help you along your journey of self-discovery. Now don’t get me wrong, practicing poses and meditation in nature on the grass is by far the best place to perform this ritual. But not all of us have the luxury to be in nature to perform our yoga practices.
Let’s go over some key items found on Amazon to get you started on your yogic way.
1 – Yoga Socks
If you are the type of person who sweats a lot, I highly recommend yoga socks with the grippy bottoms on them. This will help you keep the grip on the bottom of your feet while holding those tough poses. Because when you start exercising with these slow kinetic moves you will fire every muscle in your body, including your brain. So even if you aren’t normally a sweaty person, you will be now. But it is good for you and will help release the toxins from your body.

2 – Yoga Cork Mat
The ideal place to do yoga is in the grass where you are grounded and connected to mother earth. But most of us don’t have the time or luxury to go to the park or forest to perform our yoga practice.
But the second alternative is by using a non-slip sweatproof cork yoga mat. Remember you get what you pay for so don’t go cheap on this item. Because all the other ones are made from pvc chemicals which are toxic substances. (1)
What is so great about cork is it is natural, hygienic and 96.93% anti-bacterial. Which means it won’t stink after your sweat has been all over it. Because let’s face it, you will sweat like you never have before. But this is good for you.
These cork matts are more grippy and you will need as much grip as possible to hold these poses. The best thing about cork is it is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. So, it is good for the planet and this is what yoga is all about. Not just about having a tight-fitting body and a strong mind but being good to our planet.
The bonus on cork is it is as close to mother nature as you can get without going to the park because this a natural material which comes from the outer bark of a cork oak tree.

3 – Yoga Matt Strap Carrier
We feel that with today’s society being so busy the best place to do your yoga asanas is at the luxury of your own home. But there are times you got to travel out of town so we a yoga mat strap is a must. It is so nice because it keeps your mat from unraveling and plus you can throw it over your shoulder.

4 – Yoga Strap
If you are like the rest of the world, then you are not that flexible. This is no problem, because yoga was meant for everyone. But that is why having a strap at your side is very beneficial. This will help you get your tight hamstrings stretched out and your shoulders.

5 – Yoga Cork Blocks
Yoga Zen Life is all about eco friendly and we are firm believers of the cork products. There will be many poses where you will not be able to reach the floor, and this is ok. Nobody is here to judge you. The most important thing is you are taking better care of your body and that is just awesome.
So, don’t be so hard on yourself for not being that flexible. It takes time and patience. Just like with the cork yoga matts you don’t want no imitation toxic pvc material. Think about what enters your pours which are wide open allowing sweat out. Protect yourself by using only eco friendly cork rated material.
These blocks are amazing and can be turned in different directions giving you different heights which depends on your flexibility.

6 – Yoga Wheel
There are a lot of back bends which are meant for the more advanced yogi, but this doesn’t mean you can’t participate. Back bends and arches are great for that stiff back from a hard day at the office. These wheels give you the support to stretch out your back making you feel like a new person.

7 – Yoga Ball
Yoga asanas is all about posture. Too many people have become to relaxed with their posture causing the spine to become weak. A great way to strengthen your core muscles and practice a good posture is to sit on a ball while watching tv or at work.

8 – Yoga Essential Oils and Diffuser
We are big into PURE THERAPEUTIC grade essential oils. We are Doterra Advocates and have been using these oils for over a decade on our children and ourselves.
Your emotional state can go through many challenges throughout your day due to stress, being around negative co-workers, and when you get sick.
Essential oils are very powerful because they can raise your vibrations, calm your nerves, boost your immune system, and relax your being. These oils can be diffused in your yoga zen area, your house and even at your office.
Now we personally use Doterra and firmly believe in them. I am sure there are some other products out there which are great, but this is what we use and we DO NOT LET anything but PURE THERAPEUTIC GRADE in our house. Because these oils are very volatile and enter your blood stream, so make sure they are the best quality.
9 – Meditation Cushion
Yoga asana poses make up only one branch of yoga and were originally used for strengthening the body and mind for a meditation practice. So, while the poses are great for strengthening the body and mind, you cannot forget about the most important part, meditation.
This can be done in a chair or on a cushion. For beginners it might be wise to start with something to support your back. The last thing you need to add to your wandering mind is an uncomfortable body. If you want a more traditional style, then use a cushion on the floor, but have your back against a wall. At least until you become more of a novice meditator and have learned how to tame your wandering mind.

This is a bonus and is not necessary for yoga but is well worth throwing in your tools. What is so great about paddle boarding is you get to combine an exercise with pleasure. The best place to do yoga is with nature, and there is no better place than on the lake. The sounds of the birds chirping, the view of mountains, and a breath of fresh air are all so blissful to your well-being.
There is so much benefits to paddle boarding such as balance, core strength, focus, and even relaxation These boards are so versatile and can be used for so many things.
